The last part of my Bali Series is here – sob! Our final two stops, Seminyak and Kuta which were a little bit more touristy…

When I mean touristy, I kind of mean more commercialised and modern – because there are tourists everywhere in Bali. It was about an hours drive from Ubud to Seminyak and we had seen some beautiful sights along the way. We stayed at the Swiss-Belhotel Petitenget in Seminyak, which was our first ‘proper hotel’ in Bali, if you will. It was the kind of hotel where you would spend a full two weeks in. Our room was huge with lots of great facilities and was surrounded by loads of great places.

On our first day, we headed towards the beach to check out the town, have a wander and seek out Potato Head, something I’d heard rave reviews of online. On the way, we managed to find a really cool smoked BBQ place with 24-hour smoked meats, which were insane. We got to Potato Head and after a quick security check, we entered the beach club. It was around 2pm and it was heaving, absolutely rammed. We were just checking it out for the next day and asked if we could have a look around and I was so disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, it looked amazing, it was just far too over-crowded and rowdy – not our scene!

We headed back to our hotel and had a look on Trip Advisor for somewhere to eat, we fancied a different cuisine to what we’d been having and decided on Happy Chappy Chinese – I was a happy chappy. It was only a fifteen-minute walk to my hotel and OH MY GOSH, it was insane. The food was so fresh and cooked to perfection; We ate SO much that we couldn’t move. Black Bean, Sweet and Sour, Egg Fried Rice, Duck Rolls, HEAVEN. We both decided and voted it as our favourite meal of the whole, entire holiday. HAPPY CHAPPY.

The next day we spent some time after breakfast Googling our lives away for somewhere to spend the day and my other half came across Vue Beach Club in Canggu, a ten-minute taxi away. We arrived and it was instant bliss, quiet, serene, right on the beach and a huge pool. We spent the day lounging about lazily just enjoying each other’s company. For food that night, we dodged traffic like flappy bird to check out Eatwell Bali, the home of meaty goodness. Steak and Crispy Pork Belly Bites, oh my! WHY IS FOOD SO MUCH BETTER IN BALI?!

Our final place to visit in Bali was Kuta, which I’m not going to lie, wasn’t my favourite. It was very tourist-based with lots of people bothering you on the streets and commercialised streets and it just wasn’t what we’d been used to in the likes of Lembongan and Ubud. We stayed at the Rhadana Hotel which was lovely and out of all the commotion. We had a little bit of a wander to the beach, that was covered in people trying to sell you stuff, it just didn’t tickle my fancy and I’m glad we only spent one night there. When walking down the main road on the night, it was SO loud due to the nightclubs and my partner were getting offered drugs left, right and centre.  Not cool. I mean, if you like a good ol’ party with your friends and cheap beers, it’d be the perfect place! But for a relaxing getaway, not so much…

And then we went home – SOB! I’m so sad that my Bali posts have come to and end as it feels like the holiday has ended once again. I may produce a little Bali Tips post on things to note, as we learnt so much that we could pass on to other travellers. But thanks for reading my Bali rambles, I’m so happy to have these memories documented.
