When it comes to styling outfits, you won’t find me in any 2016 trends. Oh no, my heart belongs to a different time…
I see all these girls in their knee-high boots and lace up bodysuits, and although I think ‘damn, I wish I could pull that off’, in reality, I simply can’t. That is just not how I roll. I remember going into Topshop one day and trying on some of the current trends and modestly shrugging in the mirror and layering back on my vintage dress. It seems like my fashion taste just doesn’t fit with the modern day all that much, and that’s okay.
My friend Hannah walked into the Tea House where we worked one day with the most stunning floral dress on. I picked her brain for some of the websites where she purchases her beautiful vintage style dresses and skipped home to give them a search. A few months after, Lindy Bop had a sale and three dresses later I fell in love. For a little lady who was once frightened at the thought of a midi-dress, my wardrobe is filling up with them. This blue gingham number cost me a few pounds shot of a purple note and is the most flattering fit. Sucking you in at the right places and flaring off to a complimenting length, this dress is a dream. So much so, that one print just wasn’t enough.
Accessorising this was a breeze. I reached for my brand spanking new Millbank Radley bag in this stunning nude shade. It’s a sturdy little number that makes the perfect everyday companion. With a long strap for slinging over your shoulder whilst running for a tube, or some short handles for that classic elbow grasp. Made with premium leather, it’s something I envisage Blair Waldorf to own…
And we can’t forget my silver dancing ASOS shoes, my current favourite pair of points! I wish I had locations like this up north to shoot; The houses in Bayswater really were a dream! Let me know your thoughts about this outfit, are you modern maven or a vintage gal?
