Beauty | Autumn Makeup with Clarins

I have loved Clarins skincare for a while now, with the Exfoliating Toner being a firm favourite of mine. So it was nice to delve into their makeup with their latest collection...

I have never tried any of their makeup products before so I got a little giddy when this package arrived on my doorstep. I love that they keep the colour scheme consistent with their branding, red packaging with gold highlights on the products. It makes it all that more special. The new collection focuses on creating subtle but smokey eyes that can transform from day to night whilst offering a nude and red lipstick depending on how vibrantly you want to make a statement.

Lets start with the eyes. Although I wasn't brave enough to use the Ombre Matte Shadow (£19) in the shade 'Carbon' this time around, I'm hoping to bring it out when the A/W settles in. The cream-to-powder formula makes a easy application and the shadow can be built up for a real intense smokey eye, or simply brushed along the lash line to define in a more subtle manner. I'm hoping to really smoke it out sometime soon as it's not something I'm used to! However I did use the Crayon Kohl (£17) in the shade 'Carbon black' in a way that I would not normally do so. I applied it to my tight line and my water line to create a more intense, deeper look than usual. The pencil glided onto the line and stayed put for at least 5/6 hours which is great wear time for a kohl as I find the drugstore offerings disappear a lot quicker.

I'm very set in my ways with my eyebrows, using a certain powder to make them stand out and create a shape that suits me best. In this look, I used the brand's new Eyebrow Pencil (£17) in the shade 'Light Brown' to create more of a subtle look than a strong brow. Alas, I really like it. It seemed to last long yet take less time to apply and with the shade being soft rather than intense, it didn't seem to go on too crazy and looks rather natural. & the spoolie on the other end? Well that's just heaven isn't it? Finally I finished the look with one of the latest shade additions to the Rouge Eclat Lipsticks (£19.50), 'Red Paprika'. At first I was a bit concerned about the glitter particles packed into this one, but I surprisingly got over that really quickly as they are not too in-yer-face. It has more of a glossy finish and reflects in the light having a wear time of a couple of hours as long as your not eating or drinking!

Overall Clarins, I'm impressed. Beautiful packaging, beautiful products. Can you believe how fast Autumn is approaching? It doesn't feel like we've had a proper summer in the UK at all! We'll be putting away our brightest lipstick shades before we know it! Let me know what your thoughts are on Clarins beauty products and what your favourites are. Thanks for reading!
