Beauty | Spot Saviours

I've never been a sufferer of acne (touch wood) but I do, like most people, suffer from those annoying, occasional pesky breakouts. Having spots really does get me down and makes me a lot more self-conscious so I always try my very hardest to get rid of them as quickly as I can. Today I thought I'd show you which products I reach for when those breakouts occur...

I use my Lush 'Tea Tree Water' every single day without fail, whether I have a spot or not. It's packed to the brim with tea-tree (durr, obviously) which is great for people with spot prone skin. Having 'anti-bacterial, antiseptic and antimicrobial properties', I use this every morning and evening to help balance my skin and assist in preventing spot breakouts. I recently upgraded from my 100g bottle to it's bigger sister, 250g, as I love it that much!

We all know what it's like to have big, red and certainly ugly spots. Lush's 'Grease Lightning' gel is a huge help when it comes to minimising those nasties and seeing them on their way. Although it makes your skin a bit 'crusty' whilst you have it on, it dries out the spot in no time. I usually apply it before I go to sleep and I always notice a huge difference in the sizing and colour of the spots the next morning.

The problem I suffer with most is spot scarring. 75% of the spots I get leave a little red mark on my skin and to be honest, I never really used to do anything about it. That was until I, on a whim, tried out Bio Oil and noticed it really did help. When I'm not using Grease Lightning to get rid of a spot, I dab some oil onto the scar before bed to reduce the scarring.

I hope this helped if you're in a bit of a rut with spots, it certainly helps me when I am! What else do you recommend for spots and spot scarring? I'd love to hear your recommendations so let me know in the comments. Don't forget to vote in the Cosmo Blog Awards - I'm in the 'Best New Beauty Blog' category! Only 9 days till the voting closes, eek!

  9. I've heard about Bio Oil before and almost bought it a couple times because I suffer from dark marks and scars after blemishes are gone as well which makes me feel like I need to wear makeup. I've been trying fresh lemon juice in the mornings for about 3 days now but maybe I'll give Bio Oil a try for the night time(: thanks for the review!

I invite you to check out my new blog, more posts to come soon!

  25. I know what you mean I also hate the feeling of a spot coming on. I normally put a serum like the estee lauder one or alpha h liquid gold on and the spot never forms and goes away in one or two days. It really works, but I wish I could find something that would make them not even form.
