Lifestyle | Ellie Goulding With Capital FM Yorkshire

The lovely guys at Capital FM Yorkshire invited me down to Leeds for one of the most fun-filled days that I have had in ages! Here’s what went down around Leeds City Centre…

14:00 // After a morning at University and running a few errands here and there, myself and my friend Nathan were on the road for the hour journey to Leeds City Centre! Living in such a small town in the North East it was super exciting to have some time away in a city that has so much more to offer than what Middlesbrough does.

15:30 // The Central Arcade is situated just off the shopping high street and is home to plenty of small, individual businesses that all offer something unique and refreshing. Off we ran to Yorkshire Blow Dry for well, just that! The beautiful little salon has the most perfect interior, decorated with wood effect and simple scaffolding; everything is open plan, which adds a really homely feel to the place. I was all washed and sat at a bench in the middle of the shop which adds a really commutative aspect to the store, Megan (yay for twinning names!) began working on my hair doing your traditional Curly Blow Dry and I was amazed at how it worked! I left the salon feeling all grown up with my sassy new hair do, like an actual lady!

17:00 // I trotted straight up to Harvey Nichols where I was greeted by the lovely team at the MAC counter ready for a brand spanking new makeover. The lovely Daniel sat me down and we got talking about what kind of look I was after. All I knew was that I wanted to try the eye shadow shade ‘Club’ and away we went, Dan knew exactly what he was going to create. With a bronzed/blue smokey eye, chiselled cheekbones and a nude lip, it was so interesting and refreshing to try something completely new and I fell in love. I am going to try not using liquid eyeliner more often!

18:00 // Nathan and myself ventured down the road with our fabulous new hairstyles to Revolucion de Cuba, a place neither of us had tried before. We sat down at some tall bar-stools in the middle of the restaurant, the perfect place for people watching and we also had a wonderful view of the live Salsa class! We opted for our first round of cocktails of which were all rum-inspired. Nathan opted for a Reggae Rum Punch whereas I chose a Ruby Punch, a cocktail that comes in a pot elephant and all the proceeds help elephants in Sri Lanka – amazing! For our food, Nathan opted for a Veggie Cauliflower Steak that looked (and tasted!) incredible, such a cool twist on vegetarian food. Me, on the opposite hand, was drawn to the Pork and Chorizo Burger which had a little bit of a kick to it – BEAUTIFUL.

19:45 // We grabbed a cab up to the First Direct Arena and headed to the VIP entrance, snazzy ey! Given our names at the desk, we were given our tickets and escorted up the elevator, which had a man controlling it. Ahem, posh much?! We entered the Capital FM box to be greeted by the Breakfast team and producer and it was all just a little bit mental. With a free bar, we grabbed a drink and sat down to listen to the absolute pleasure that was John Newman. He has just as much energy as he does in his music videos and sings just as beautifully well. It’s made me super excited to see him again at V Festival later in the year! The Arena is amazing, almost a semi-circle with rising seats so that you can see no matter where you are sitting. A spot of chatting to the presenters occurred then it was time for the main act – Ellie Goulding! Ellie provided us with a lovely set mixed with some of her all time classics (apart from Starry Eyed, sob) and some of her album of tracks of which I simply swayed to. With several outfit changes, a moving stage and some lovely male dancers, Ellie certainly put on a show for the crowd.

Overall we had an absolutely wonderful day thanks to Capital! I'll definitely be seeing who's at the First Direct Arena as it was such a fabulous venue! Let me know if you are going to see anyone in concert this year? I'm off to see Busted in May which I am FAR too excited about! Ya'll know how much I love my boybands...
